So work could not be more boring than it currently is. The other student worker and I have nothing to do. Maybe I'll work on the samurai fic that was bouncing around in my head last night before I went to bed. I have two manga with me, but they're not holding my attention. Surprising since I love both series so far.

My boss here at the AAPC apparently took another job since I last worked on Thursday. She's not in the office anymore so I'm wondering who I should ask for work when no one else knows what to do with the student workers. If I had known that there was no work to be done I'd have brought my paper to poke at. I'm at the point where I actually have to start analysis on it. I need to figure out how to organize it, though. I'm debating between chronological order and type of relationship. That probably doesn't make any sense to anyone but me. I'm arguing that the types of relationships in Firefly and Serenity are what drive the plot making it more drama than science fiction. So I could go in order of the episodes or I could do one main relationship type at a time. Relationship types will give me clear headers. Chronological order will be less confusing for the reader as I talk about specific plot elements.

Yeah... okay, I'm out of things to say. Off to find entertainment.

Freshmen college students amuse me. Really, they do. Most of them were eligible to register for classes today. The way my university works is that every day a new group of students can register based on number of hours earned not including the current semester's hours. Super Seniors (those who have enough hours to graduate, but for some reason haven't) go first. Well, not technically. There are four groups that have priority registration. Honors, athletes, tour guides and students with disabilities get to register several weeks ahead of even seniors. My issues with this policy is a post in and of itself and I will not go into it.

Now, today is when students with 0 earned hours could register for classes. This is the vast majority of freshmen. This is the group that came in with no credits. No APs or anything like that. Sucks for them, but not my problem.

What is my problem is that they have to be advised by the Academic Advising and Planning Center (aka the AAPC) before they can register for classes. These freshmen have been e-mailed a minimum of three times about this requirement and yet some of them had the nerve to call today and demand to be seen by their adviser so that they can register for classes today like they're supposed to. The advisers have been booked solid since, oh, about two weeks ago. The other student workers, the full time administrative assistant and I took great pleasure in explaining that there was no way they could meet with their adviser until December 1st in the vast majority of cases. 2 advisers had appointments available on Tuesday next week. That's it.

Seriously, this crop of freshmen needs to read their e-mails. There are some in serious threat of being kicked out of school because they haven't turned in their final high school transcripts. Honestly now people. This is not rocket science or anything of the like.

Success!

So, I had an interview with the Academic Advising and Planning Center today for a possible job this school year. Apparently being an orientation has perks I didn't know about. She "interviewed" me, but it wasn't much of an interview. It was more like chatting.

... In other words, I have a job for the fall! Yay!

And those are my icons.

I had another long day today - not as exhausting, but still long, so I'm going to be going to bed once I check my fpage. Liz, Jill, don't worry if you don't see me online. I'm not planning on signing on because I doubt I could get much past "Hi. How are you?" at this point. I'm not even sure how I made this entry.
