Oishi slid out the side door and headed down the beach away from the house the group was sharing. Everyone was being really weird around him and he just didn't want to deal with it anymore. He slowed down his pace when he couldn't really see the house which, hopefully, meant that the others wouldn't see him if they stepped outside. He walked down to the water and took off his flip flops. The water was cool against his feet. Oishi closed his eyes for a few minutes as the wind picked up off the ocean.

"Oishi-kun?"

Oishi opened his eyes and got a slight shock when he saw Kurobane standing only a couple feet away. "Kurobane-kun. What are you doing here?" he asked.

"My family owns that house," Kurobane said, pointing to the house they were standing in front of. "My grandparents used to live there, but they spend most of their time at my uncle's now. What brings you to the beach?"

"The whole team is here, actually," Oishi said. "We decided to get a house and go on vacation together before the seniors split up for college."

"And yet you're on your own," Kurobane said. "Come on, we should get inside."

"Hmm? Why?" Oishi asked, head tilted to the side.

"There's a storm about to blow in and it's not smart to get caught outside in it," Kurobane said. "We can hang out at my place. If you want to stay outside we can go up to the screened in porch on the second floor."

Oishi looked out at the ocean and saw the dark clouds moving closer rapidly. "Can we watch it?" Oishi asked.

"Sure. You like storms?" Kurobane started for the house and Oishi followed quickly.

"I like lightning. It's beautiful even if it is dangerous," Oishi said. He dusted his feet off before following Kurobane through the house.

"I'll give you that. Do you want anything to eat or drink?" Kurobane asked.

"No thank you," Oishi said.

"Okay, so up to the porch it is," Kurobane said.

"So you're staying here on your own?" Oishi asked, staying a step behind the other.

"Yeah, the guys were all busy. Davide is on a family vacation. Saeki's going to a tennis camp at a local university. Itt-chan is helping at his dad's work. Aoi is spending everyday at Oji's place. And Ryou's twin came home so they're… not aware of the rest of the world," Kurobane explained.

Oishi chuckled a little. "They're that bad?"

"They don't talk when Atsushi's away at school for whatever reason makes sense to them," Kurobane said. "They don't make sense to anyone else."

"That could be said about the majority of my team. I swear some of them started out normal," Oishi said.

"They lost that by the time we met," Kurobane said. "For as long as I've know you all you've been weird."

Oishi pushed Kurobane a little. "Hey, I'm not weird. It's everyone else. Especially on this trip," he said.

"What's been going on?" Kurobane opened a sliding door leading to the upstairs deck. Oishi stepped through and walked up to the screen.

"Eiji and Momo both tried to kiss me and the others have just been acting weird," Oishi said.

"Maybe all the sun is getting to their heads," Kurobane said. "Come sit down, Oishi-kun."

Oishi sat down on the swing next to Kurobane. "Possibly," he said. "It's getting old fast."

"Lightning," Kurobane said.

Oishi smiled, keeping his eyes open for more of the flashes. He could see the sheet of rain moving closer to the house. "Thanks, Kurobane-kun," he said.

"Call me Bane," He said. "What are you thanking me for?"

"Keeping me company without making me want to get away," Oishi said. He kept his eyes on the ocean as rain pattered against the roof and lightning flashed across the sky.

"You're like a kid in a candy store," Kurobane said.

"I like lightning," Oishi said. "Is that so bad?"

"No, it's cute how excited you get every time there's a flash," Kurobane said.

Oishi blushed and ducked his head, but smiled all the same. The storm passed after an hour, but Oishi didn't leave. He stayed the on the swing with Kurobane, enjoying the occasional conversation and the silence between. When the sun started to set Oishi made himself leave, but with the promise he'd come visit again before the end of the week.

That's nice. I like the little "safe port in the storm" image you drew. Very cool.
