Exercise #5 from [profile] imagination500 is done. It was 712 when the time stopped, but it wasn't finished so I finished and now it's 766.

Prompt: The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed. - Carl Jung (1875 - 1961)

Alaric was probably the most sociable person in their group.  He got along with just about everyone in their school.  Yet, somehow, he found the least sociable girl in their group the most interesting.  Elysia was almost as quiet as Bryce was.  She said more and didn’t need as much help voicing her opinions, but she spoke so quietly that he had to strain to hear her.  No one could hear her over the others when they started arguing or just being loud.  She was sweeter than any of the goodies she made and maybe that was why he found such an interest in her.

When they had first met it had been when Alaric joined the group after being dragged into a conversation by Asher.  He hadn’t really noticed her at first, but then they spent an afternoon together working on a book report they had to do together in the third grade and Alaric found her an absolute mystery.  He couldn’t figure her out and it only drove him to spend more time with her.

Alaric had always been your average boisterous boy growing up, but the more time he spent with Elysia he started to calm down.  He became more level headed.  Everyone that new Alaric knew that she had influenced him, but no one was really worried about it because he was still the same boy.  He was just a little quieter.

Elysia had barely spoken a word before she started hanging out with Alaric.  Once she did she started speaking up more.  Her voice rose above a whisper when she did speak.  Her teachers were thrilled because they didn’t have to stand only inches from her in order to hear what she was saying when they called on her in class.  Her friends couldn’t get enough of the change since they were finally beginning to understand her more and get to know her better.  Her family was happy that she had finally made a friend that was influencing her.

Alaric flopped on the bed in his room as he tossed a baseball up and down in the air.  Elysia watched him with a small smile as she started spreading out the materials they would need to for the history project they were working on.  They had the paper written and now they had to work on their visual aid, a series of posters illustrating their main points.  It would probably take a few days to complete the posters, but the project wasn’t do for another 5 school days and there was a weekend in there as well.  They would work after school until it was done saving their weekend to have fun with their friends.

Alaric propped himself on his elbow as he watched her.  “I’m glad we have the same classes this year, Ely.”

Elysia looked up from finding the appropriate print outs that would go on the first poster.  “So am I.”  She started to look through the papers again, but stopped and looked up at him with her head tilted slightly to the side.  “What made you say that?”

Alaric smiled as he slipped off the bed and started helping arrange things so that they could find everything easily.  “I don’t know.  I just don’t think I’ve said it and thought you should know.”

Elysia smiled as she shook her head and handed him a couple of papers.  “Cut those out if you’re not too busy being sentimental” she teased.

Alaric just laughed it off as he took the papers and started cutting out the pictures on them very carefully.  It wouldn’t do to mess up any of their posters.  They were both aiming for an ‘A’ on this project and would prefer as close to 100 percent as they could get.

Elysia started writing a title on one of the poster boards in pencil as she thought about what Alaric had said.  “You know, it’s going to be sad when we graduate high school.  We’re going to be at two different colleges.”

Alaric stopped cutting and looked over at her.  There was a time when he wouldn’t have even considered what he as about to do, but he was 15 now and he didn’t think twice as he pulled her into a hug.  “That’s okay.  We’ll talk everyday on the phone or through e-mails.”

“I’ll hold you to that” she replied as she hugged him tightly.  There was a reason she felt most relaxed with Alaric, not that she could name it.  He was just very special to her and she knew she was special to him.

Thank you! I'm glad you liked it. I was a little worried since I knew who I wanted to develop, but I just didn't know for the life of me how to go about it. Then I thought, well why not take the most sociable and least sociable and make them best friends? It sounded like a good idea and I like how it turned out. ^_^

You don't need a reason to be hyper.
